Leita Denson, affectionately known as "Dede", turned 100 years old on July 4, 2009. I had the privelege of photographing her birthday party in Bessemer, AL this past weekend. The day started with lunch at Dede's house with several of her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and two GREAT-GREAT-grandchildren! Once the party started, a line formed all the way out the door as friends, family, former students made their way to speak with Dede. She greeted them with a smile as everyone came to tell their favorite time, favorite memory, favorite story they share with Dede. It was a blessing to me to watch the life and love of one woman effect so many individuals... Happy Birthday Dede.
